      Latvia's answer to Michael Owen has had a stunning impact since his arrival from Skonto Riga for £800,000 on transfer deadline day last March. In six appearances at the end of the campaign, he scored three goals, including a double in the last match of the season against Everton. Lightning quick, the international striker has adjusted extremely well to the demands of the Premiership and this season has had a terrific start to his career. Pahars scored 13 goals in his first season at the Dell and making him a very sought after player scoring a goal of the season against Manchester United by nut megging Japp Stam and slotting it in.
