      Norwegian international, Lundekvam, has been a formidable figure at the heart of the Saints defence since his £400,000 move from his homeland in September 1996. After joining from SK Brann, Lundekvam linked up well with Ken Monkou in the rearguard as he displayed an astute understanding of the game. Before the start of this season, the Norwegian had made 110 appearances in a Saints shirt, and has already been a mainstay of the defence this campaign. He formed an instant partnership with summer signing, Dean Richards, as the defence tightened up considerably on last season. Lundekvam has been forced out of defence the end of last season with the arrival of Tahar El Khalej but has been called up for Norway for their friendlies.
