      The long-serving Saints' club captain has been at The Dell for over ten years since arriving from Bath City in March 1989 for £50,000. His only professional club, Dodd is a model of both consistency and versatility for the club, and is always prepared to roll up his sleeves. Generally deployed as a right-back, the former England under-21 international is not averse to playing at centre back or in midfield whenever required. He has made 301 first team appearances as well as 18 substitute outings before the start of this season, scoring a total of nine goals during his Saints career. Despite struggling with a persistent injury in the 1998/99 campaign, Dodd returned this season looking fit and fresh until a knee operation in November curtailed his momentum. Dodd has had a good season scoring 1 goal and helped tighten up the defence.
