      The teenage midfielder signed professional forms with the Saints in January 1998, and made his first team debut against Liverpool on the opening day of the 1998/99 season. Bridge made 24 appearances in total during the campaign in an impressive first season in professional football. Initially deployed as a left-sided midfielder, Bridge is being groomed into being able to slot in to the left-back role, and performed a sterling job against Ipswich in that position in the FA Cup this season. An England under-21 international already, the youngster has a bright future, and is tipped by many to go far. This season Bridge has had to fill in the left back position which isn't his usual but he has adapted well and scored his first senior goal last season against Wimbledon which helped them get relegated. He has a promising season ahead this year to show what he has got.
