      The Portuguese Under-21 international joined from Arsenal in the summer of 1999, with the final transfer fee dependant upon appearances. Boa Morte is equally adept at playing as a left-winger or as a main striker, with his pace a prevalent feature of his make-up. He arrived at Highbury in June 1997 for £1.75M, but was forced to settle for being a squad player with Arsene Wenger's talented Premiership winners. In total, Boa Morte made 36 appearances and scored six goals for the Gunners before moving to the south coast. So far, he has struggled with minor niggles and knocks which have hindered his progress, but has not been able to hold a place in the first team since the arrival of Glenn Hoddle.
